IDEA has developed a unique research environment by providing a continuous support to students by means of individual meetings, seminars and workshops and also network activities.
There are several regular seminar series organized on campus. The Applied Seminars, the Microeconomics Seminars and the Macroeconomics Seminars jointly organized by the Economics Department of the UAB and the Institute of Economic Analysis of the CSIC meets weekly, featuring guest speakers from all over the world, as well as local researchers.
Students are proactive in the organization of workshops. The Students only Workshop is a space created by and for the students. In this workshop they present their work and ideas between them. The feedback among the colleagues and the relaxed atmosphere for the exposition has made the Student only Workshop a well appreciated platform for new ideas and preparation for the Master Thesis and PhD Thesis presentations.
Other special seminar series cater to a more specialized public. Barcelona Jocs, a Game Theory seminar that meets monthly, and the Barcelona Economics Lectures sponsored by the Barcelona GSE research Network. There are also informal seminars directed to groups of professors and students working in a specific area, and where participants discuss ideas and problems encountered during the research process.
